The FLARE- Futures Literacy for Anticipatory Societies project has recently earned a remarkable achievement by receiving the prestigious COST Action award with a perfect score of 13 out of 13. This outstanding recognition highlights the project's excellence and its significant contribution to its field. Such a high score is rare and reflects the dedication, innovation, and impact of the FLARE team.
FLARE is one of 80 new research networks awarded during this funding round.
In a highly competitive climate, this project focuses on enhancing strategic foresight mechanisms and fostering resilient, anticipatory societies throughout Europe.
Independent evaluators praised the project's scientific excellence, network structure, and planned societal impacts. Led by Marina Andeva alongside Sanna Ketonen-Oksi, the network will officially launch its activities later this autumn.
Objectives of the FLARE Network
The project will last from October 19, 2026, to October 18, 2030. Its principal goal is to bridge the gap between academia, innovation leaders, and policymakers by incorporating "Futures Literacy," or the ability to use the future to improve the present, into European decision-making processes. The network will assist European nations in better anticipating global changes, managing uncertainties, and developing adaptable public foresight frameworks.
Minority Issues Research Institute (MIRI) appreciates the success of the FLARE Cost Action as a co-proposer and is eager to collaborate on the project over its four-year duration and contribute to its successful implementation.
