Meeting with Alexander Daško Plenipotentiary of the Government of the Slovak Republic for Roma Communities

Our President and Senior Researcher, Dr Svetluša Surová, had the great honour of meeting with Alexander Daško, Plenipotentiary of the Government of the Slovak Republic for Roma Communities.

Dr Svetluša Surová introduced our institute, its mission and vision, and her extensive research on illegal and militarized quarantining of Marginalized Roma Communities (MRCs) at the meeting with the plenipotentiary for Roma Communities.


Additionally, she presented MIRI's quest for legal options to hold responsible authorities accountable for illegally closing the MRCs during the pandemic. In detail, Dr. Surová explained our initiative directed towards the apology of authorities to the Roma for the unlawful and discriminatory policies during the COVID-19 pandemic.

At MIRI, we are sincerely grateful for the meeting and opportunity to discuss Dr Surová and our work regarding Roma communities, and we hope to continue the discussion with the plenipotentiary and his office.
