On June 22–23, 2026, an important conversation took place in Serbia. The International Academic Workshop titled “The Ombudsman’s Response to Global Crises” brought together academics and practitioners to explore how ombudsman offices respond to pressing challenges.

Globsec Forum 2026, titled “The Global Systemic Transformation," addressed the question of how Europe can play a constructive role in a world marked by fragmentation, power competition, and accelerating risk.

Last week, on 22 and 23 May 2026, an interdisciplinary conference on “Disaster Nationalism” and Present-day Europe was held at Charles University, Faculty of Arts, Prague. Dr Svetluša Surová, director and senior researcher at the Minority Issues Research Institute, has participated in the session on “Varieties of Nationalism: Diasporic Identifications, Repressive Marginalization, Millennialist Conspiracies and Sacralized Nationhood”.

Our Director and Senior Researcher at the Minority Issues Research Institute, Dr Svetluša Surova, has participated in the Annual Conference of the School of Advanced Social Studies, with the theme “Societies in flux: navigating uncertainty, change and resilience,” taking place on 15-16 May 2026 in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
