About the event

In terms of policies and attitudes against those who are Muslims or who others consider to be Muslims, islamophobia is on the rise in the European Union and the Western world at large. The majority of scholars identify islamophobia as a type of racism and exclusionary conduct, and governments and societies around the world should treat it as such. Despite the grave effects of islamophobia, neither the institutions nor the societies of the European states sufficiently address this issue. Many officials and non-Muslims believe that the Muslim community is the source of islamophobia. According to some, islamophobia is merely the extremists' hostility towards minorities and has no practical policy ramifications. MIRI is planning a timely discussion with Dr Peter Hopkins, a professor of social geography at Newcastle University, regarding his new book, "Everyday Islamophobia," which was released this year by Bristol University Press, to address these incorrect attitudes, raise awareness,…
